Meet Our Teachers!

Miss Melissa
Region Owner
Instructor
with CKMN since 2025!
Melissa Sayles is the territory owner and instructor for the Creative Kids Movement Network in West Michigan, where she shares her lifelong passion for dance, creative movement, and yoga with children across the region. As a mom of three, Melissa deeply understands the importance of fostering confidence, self-expression, and physical wel-being in children. Kids are at the heart of everything she does, and she is dedicated to providing them with opportunities to grow and thrive through movement.
Melissa’s love for the arts began at age two, with training at Pelio School of Dance in Flint, MI. She began assistant teaching dance at the age of 12, sparking her lifelong dedication to teaching and sharing the art of dance. One of the most special moments in her dance journey was performing in the Cinderela Ballet at Pelio School of Dance alongside her daughter. This experience symbolized the beauty of dance as a multigenerational tradition—passing down a love for the art form from one generation to the next and deepening their shared bond through dance which is her goal through Creative Kids Movement Network for the next generation in West Michigan.
In addition to her work with Creative Kids Movement Network, Melissa has taught ballet for the Michigan Youth Balet Theater, where she also assists with the Nutcracker production. She serves as the Board Secretary for the Michigan Youth Balet Theater.
An avid yogi for over 15 years, Melissa integrates her love for yoga into her work, offering separate classes that teach children mindfulness, strength, flexibility, and balance in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Melissa believes that a love for the arts is essential to personal growth and creative expression. She is passionate about empowering children and shaping the next generation of dancers, yogis, and creative thinkers in West Michigan. Through her work, she continues to inspire kids to believe in themselves, cultivate their unique talents, and embrace the joy of movement.
Miss Cali
Instructor
with CKMN since 2025!
Cali Smith grew up in Chicago and has been dancing for as long as she can remember! She studied Dance Performance and Choreography at Hope College (with a little extra focus on teaching through a Dance Pedagogy minor!) and that’s where she really fell in love with sharing dance with others.

Now, she gets to do what she loves every day! Cali is a dancer with Currents Dance Theater, teacher and choreographer at Avalon School of the Arts, and a teacher with Creative Kids Movement Network!
When she's not teaching or dancing, you can usually find her hanging out with her cat, Jade (she’s the real star of the show), spending time with friends, or finding new creative outlets—like collage-making or unwinding with a yoga class. Dance may be her first love, but she's always looking for new ways to move, create, and have fun!
